Sumartin is a small town on the easternmost cape of the island of Brac. It was founded in 1645 AD by Dalmatian pilgrims trying to escape the Turks, and interestingly enough, the inhabitants of Sumartin already spoke a different dialect than the rest of the island. Fishing, maritime activities, shipbuilding, olives and tourism are still the main source of livelihood of the local people today. In the town there is a Franciscan monastery and the church of St. Martin, which is admired by all history lovers. The small harbour of Sumartin, where ferries from the mainland arrive from the Makarska Riviera, is the second gateway to the island of Brac after the main centre of Supetar. In Sumartin you will feel that time has stopped and this unique atmosphere is an ideal choice for a peaceful holiday.
> MoreBol is the oldest town on the coast of Brac, rich in long sandy and pebble beaches that stretch for 10 km. It is home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Adriatic - Zlatni Rat - certainly the most beautiful beach on the Adriatic coast. The pebble beach is shaped like an animal horn, jutting out from the island for several hundred metres and sloping steeply into the sea. The pebbles are carried by the sea currents and waves. This gives the beach a different shape and slope - sometimes the "horn" is curved to the right, sometimes to the left. The promontory was formed by the removal of material from a large rocky ravine that emerges from the mountains above the promontory.
